Peace Cycling
Every year since 2015, the 70th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the Earth Caravan has organized Peace Cycling to raise awareness about the threat of nuclear weapons and to advocate for a world free of nuclear weapons.
Over the course of two weeks, cyclists travel from Hiroshima to Tokyo. In 2016, 60-year old Susan Eddie undertook the almost 700 km journey, with the full support of the mayor of Nagasaki behind her.
On arrival of the peace cyclists in Tokyo, the Earth Caravan organized a peace festival and charity market to honour the victims of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings and create a united call for a nuclear weapon-free world.
